muscular guys in brief shorts, they were hopeful for
the role, Mike Lane, GAtes Brown, Michael Forest, Bill
Kruse, Bart Summers, and William Browne. Full page Milk
Bone dog biscuits ad with lovely Cocker Spaniels dogs
art by Mary Baker. All the Democrats that won last November
are now taking over. Six lovely color photos of Democrats

having great fun watching a game and participating in
his way. The Aga Khan is carried to his final resting
place in Egypt. Photo essay - `Hawaii" - beauty, wealth,

OK'd, now they need to jump through some red tape hoops.
The big riders on the Farm Program gravy train, farm

different low calorie sauces. I fight the mob (they aren't
paying him for his boxing win) by Ingemar Johansson.
Americans flock to Europe, includes the Ancient Order
of Hibernins, Men in ballet tutus, Arkansas farmer W.E.
Fletcher in Moscow, more. The flop that gave Moss Hart
his start. Full page color Kool-Air ad with smiley face
pitcher, the first of these ads I remember in LIFE.
Bruay-en-Artois, very near miss of child and auto. Little
Rock Arkansas and more on segregation in schools, the
pro-segregationists are sprayed with fire hoses. Roman
cave - archaeologists reconstruct the plan and treasures
of an ancient underground art gallery by the sea. Excellent
full page color Dr. Pepper ad with art. Giants' new
baseball player, Willie McCovey. Neat full page Mayo
Spruce boys underwear ad with football theme, art by
William George. Benefit ball at the Vanderbilts' old

at the Breakers in Newport. Neat photo of George Wojnowski

- The Legend of Rip Van Winkle is depicted by James
Lewicki, who has painted American folklore for LIFE's
new series. Another excellent two page color Royal portable
typewriter ad, this one in blue. Great full page Land-Rover
ad, though the photo may have been angled. Lights out
in New York City, includes night time shot showing the
darkened area of the city, photo of kind Nicholas Zuvich
carrying 80-year old Adolph Baer to his 14th floor apartment
(elevators are out). The great story of the earthquake,
land slide and the backed-up Madison river tragedy near
Yellowstone National Park, includes house and highway
in Hebgen Lake (Montana), survivors at the Rock Creek
campground, many photos. Photo essay - The folklore
of America. Photo essay - A young $10 billion power
- the U.S. teen-age consumer has become a major factor
in the nation's economy. A fearful ordeal by fire -
a famous disaster brought Clifford Johnson agony, hopeless

huge Ottilie and Henry King family (12 kids) visits
New York City, taking advantage of family travel deals.

Hollywood frantically puts out record batch of filmed

American Astronauts. First person report by the Astronauts
- start of exclusive stories on epochal mission to space,
lots of great photos including the contour couches,
Slayton and Grissom smoking. Interesting photo of guards
at Buckingham Palace, now they surreptitiously look
around for tormentors, they are supposed to look straight
ahead. Full page ad that is an invitation by F. E. Compton
& Company to apply for one of the 8500 jobs that
are going to be available. Killings by a teen-age "Cape
Man" stun New York with a continuation of senseless
gang brutality. Very pretty full page color A &
P Coffee ad with eight gorgeous cups and saucers. Laos
faces beefed-up Communist onslaught. Skindivers discover
wreck of a Spanish galleon in waters off Bermuda. Russian
Orthodox Church - photo essay. Ford Falcon - new economy
car. Chinese student Chheng Guan Lim describes his self-exile
in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A multi-page ad for all electric
living with the Bob Campbell family in a Medallion home,
and much more - this is a major piece. Two page color
General Electric ad with an entirely pink kitchen. Suzy
Parker and fashion. Interesting full page color Tussy
skin care ad with art by Morrow. Tennis loses its audience.
